Before you pack
Getting drafted into the military is a major milestone, both for new recruits and for their families. Preparing in advance can make your first days much less stressful, so we've put together a practical packing checklist to help you arrive ready.
Before you start packing: find out how long you'll be staying on base before your first leave. Bring enough clothing and personal items to last you through that period.

Clothing
- White or olive-green T-shirts
- Underwear
- Socks:
- Women: long white or black socks
- Men: white, black, or gray socks. It's also a good idea to pack a few thicker pairs, as standard socks tend to wear out quickly in military boots.
- Pajamas
- Sportswear
- A warm sweatshirt or hoodie for cooler evenings
For female recruits: Civilian clothing worn on base must be modest. For example, shorts or pants should cover the knees, and shirts should cover the shoulders and midriff. Keep these guidelines in mind when choosing sportswear and sleepwear.

Important Documents
You'll be asked to provide certain personal information during the enlistment process. Having digital copies on your phone is usually sufficient.
Bring or have access to:
- Your Israeli ID card (Teudat Zehut)
- Your rental agreement, if you live in rented accommodation
