   In brief

   Support for after-school programs is split between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Welfare.

   • The Ministry of Education subsidy — detailed in this guide — covers after-school programs for kindergarten children in socio-economic clusters 1–5, and for children in grades 1–2 in all clusters.
   • The Ministry of Welfare subsidy covers after-school programs for kindergarten children whose parents work or study and who live in clusters 6–7 (couple-parent households) or clusters 6–10 (single-parent households).
   • There is also separate assistance with after-school program funding for single parents who have increased their hours of work or study.

   The Ministry of Education subsidises the cost of public after-school programs in kindergartens and in grades 1–2 according to the socio-economic cluster of the family's locality. The prices of public after-school programs in kindergartens and grades 1–2 are subject to regulated maximum pricing.

   Subsidy amounts

   The subsidy amounts from the Ministry of Education and the parent co-payment per month are shown in the table below. The figures are based on the criteria for funding local authorities for Nitzanim programs, and relate to the Ministry of Education subsidy for Nitzanim after-school programs only.

   Who is eligible?

   Children of kindergarten age and in grades 1–2 in the official state education system, in recognised non-official education, and in special education, whose school day ends by 14:30.

   The subsidy is applied automatically — you don't need to submit a separate application.
